Festive greetings Bakémon trainers! As we are so close to Christmas we decided to do yet another very special recipe to suit the season that’s in it. A standard Christmas treat for many years has been gingerbread men, decorated however one pleases. However us Bakémon masters aren’t huge fans of gingerbread so we decided to use our own Christmas cookie recipe to make Christmas Mr Mimes! Mr Mime was the obvious Pokémon choice because he’s humanoid shaped and we honestly have no other idea what baked good he could be 😛 These cookies are made with treacle & all the Christmas spices you can think of and are totally delicious; Bakémon master Siobhán has been making variations of this recipe (& flooding our apartment with cookies in the process 😉 ) since the start of December so we have it perfected! The Mr Mimes are decorated using lemon flavoured glacé icing which nicely compliments the Christmassy flavours & gives it an extra touch of sweetness. Be warned however that both the cutting out & icing of your mimes can be quite time consuming, we think it’s worth it though!
Ready? Let’s go!
Tweet tweet! It’s time for another bird Pokémon recipe; this week it’s Spearow & Fearow, the grumpy duo who are often less popular than the Pidgey family, but who should not be underestimated! They also make a good batch of cookies as you will soon see. We thought Spearow & Fearow would taste like peanut butter and chocolate. It’s just a vibe we got. We don’t think we were far wrong, because our end result was totally nom: little bird shaped peanut butter & chocolate roll out cookies. We managed to find cutesy bird shaped cookie cutters to make our cookies look a little bit more like birds than our Pidgey cookies did (although we stress our recipes are Pokémon inspired, we don’t always try to make them look like the Pokémon they’re based on…), however you may not have or be able to find bird shaped cookie cutters. No worries, you can try cut them into bird shapes by hand, or just make circular cookies and ice on bird faces, whatever you like! We through in a bunch of chocolate chips to evolve our Spearows into Fearows as well as using a bigger cookie cutter, making them super chocolatey as well as deliciously peanuty 🙂
Here comes the recipe!
Hello & welcome to our bird-themed recipe for Pokémon’s best known and best loved bird family; Pidgey, Pidgeotto & Pidgeot. These feathered ‘mons are among the first & most frequently encountered Pokémon in a trainer’s journey and Pidgeys are surely the main inhabitant of the skies over Kanto & Johto (and obviously they also like the tall grass). We Bakémon masters have deduced that aside from Berries, Pidgeys/Pidgeottos/Pidgeots enjoy eating nuts and fruit, similar to commonly seen birds in our back gardens. Hence, this week’s recipe is for some super tasty ‘bird food cookies’ made from oats, nuts & apples (& also chocolate chips but please don’t try to feed chocolate to any birds, including Pidgey & its relatives). We also threw in some yummy spices like cinnamon because they’re like, totally best friends with oat cookies. This recipe definitely takes on the form of being ‘inspired’ by Pokémon rather than aiming to look like them; we tried to give the cookies bird faces but they looked creepy & deformed after being baked so we gave up. You could try it though, or maybe try cutting your cookies into bird shapes if you like- half the fun is experimenting so get creative! One of the major pluses of this week’s recipe is it’s significantly less time consuming than our recent recipes, so you can make these up super fast (they’ll be gone super fast too we assure you).
Onwards to cookies!
